US organisation helps handicapped children in northern provinces

18/04/2006 -- 4:27 PM

Hai Phong (VNA) - The "Hands of Hope" organisation of the US has coordinated with relevant agencies in the northern port city of Hai Phong to provide health check-ups and treatment to over 100 poor disabled children in the city's Thuy Nguyen, Vinh Bao, Tien Lang and Kien Thuy districts.

In 2006, Hands of Hope gave the city 40,000 USD to pay for orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation treatment for 66 children, buy wheelchairs for 50 others, and give allowances to 100 children.

This is the second year the US organisation has helped disabled children in Hai Phong.

Hands of Hope's charitable programme also covers three others northern provinces: Hai Duong, Hung Yen and Thai Binh.-Enditem
