Viet Nam, Japan cooperate on bird flu treatment

Ha Noi, April 25 (VNA) - The Central Children's Hospital in Ha Noi on April 25 held a teleconference with the International Medical Centre of Japan on medical treatment of bird flu patients and projects of scientific cooperation in the future. Medical doctors and experts exchanged views on diagnosis and treatment of bird flu patients at the Central Children's Hospital. They also discussed a method to treat avian influenza patients with high doses of Immunoglobilin. With the recent limited effectiveness of Tamiflu in the treatment of bird flu-affected human patients in Viet Nam for many reasons such as late hospitalisation or under-dosed treatment, research into the use of Immunoglobilin, a kind of protein highly resistant to viruses, is necessary, said Dr. Nguyen Thanh Liem, Director of the Central Children's Hospital.--Enditem
