UNFPA funds reproductive health and population programme

Ha Noi (VNA) - The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) will provide 28 million USD to help Viet Nam implement the 2006-10 National Programme Action Plan on reproductive health and population issues.

The action plan was signed in Ha Noi on June 1 by representatives of the Vietnamese Government and the UNFPA.

The plan aims to improve the capacity of ministries and seven selected provinces, namely Ha Giang, Hoa Binh, Phu Tho, Kon Tum, Ninh Thuan, Ben Tre and Tien Giang, in carrying out national reproductive health care and population strategies.

Work plans for 2006 were also inked between the UNFPA and key implementing partners in the provinces of Hoa Binh, Phu Tho, Ha Giang and Tien Giang, as well as with the Ministry of Health and the General Statistics Office.-Enditem
