Ha Noi (VNA) - Various organisations, agencies and individuals contributed more than 333 million VND to help Agent Orange/Dioxin victims during an exchange programme with AO victims, entitled "Nhip cau nhan ai" (Charitable bridge) held in Ha Noi on June 25.
The programme, organised by Viet Nam Association for Victims of Agent Organge/Dioxin (VAVA), the Communist Party of Viet Nam Electronic Newspaper, the Viet Nam Television and the BMS trademark promotion company, aimed to call for assistance from domestic sources and foreign friends for a lawsuit filed by the Vietnamese AO victims against US chemical companies.
Vice State President Truong My Hoa, President of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee Pham The Duyet attended the event.
The programme, which was telecast live on channel VTV1, provided information and images reflecting the losses and grief suffered by AO victims, especially women and children of the 3rd and 4th generations.
On this occasion, the VAVA displayed 70 poster-sized photos of the AO/Dioxin victims in Viet Nam at the Ha Noi Opera House.
The audience also heard wives and mothers of AO/Dioxin victims' talk about their sorrows, pleasures, worries and hopes and exchanged view with a three-member delegation from the VAVA which had toured 10 big cities in the US to meet with and call on the American people to support the lawsuit by the Vietnamese AO victims.
