Central province eradicates cataract blindness

Quang Binh (VNA) - The People's Committee of central Quang Binh province on June 28 announced cataract blindness had been eradicated in the province. This success was attributed to a programme on bringing eye sight to people who are afflicted with cataracts which has been carried out throughout the province since 2001. Under the programme, the province had conducted surgery on 5,026 cataract patients, most of whom are poor, social beneficiaries, and ethnic minorities people. The healthcare sector in Quang Binh province keeps monitoring the eyesight of new cataract patients in the province to help them fight blindness.-Enditem
