Volleyballers to square off

HCM City (VNA) --The second HCM City International Volleyball-Sting Cup will be held next week at the Phan Dinh Phung Indoor Stadium in an effort to raise volleyball's profile in HCM City. Two local teams - HCM City and Long An - will compete against three international squads from Indonesia, Thailand and Sri Lanka. Indonesian and Thai opponents are supposed to be stronger than the host teams while the ability Sri Lanka, who will make their debut in the city next week, is unknown. All five male teams will play in a round robin format with 3,000 USD for the winner, 2,000 USD for the runner-up and 1,000 USD for third place. The event, which is sponsored by Pepsico Viet Nam is expected to be an official competition on the national volleyball schedule.-Enditem
