Viet Nam exports vaccine to India

Ha Noi (VNA) - The Vaccine and Medical Bio-product Company No. 1 under the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology has exported more than 1 million doses of a Japanese encephalitis vaccine to India.
Besides Japanese encephalitis vaccine, three other vaccines have been produced by the company - namely hepatitis B, cholera and rabies - in order to meet domestic demand.
Viet Nam has invested 33 million USD in two modern vaccine production plants. One facility belonging to the Vaccine and Medical Bio-product Company No. 1 will officially begin operating at the end of this year following a year of test operations. The other is located in Da Lat city and is currently producing typhoid vaccine on a pilot basis.
Viet Nam has so far been able to produce nine out of the 10 vaccines required for the expanded national programme on immunisation and has exported millions doses of the Japanese encephalitis vaccine since 2003.-Enditem
