Da Nang (VNA) - Participants in a conference of overseas Vietnamese (OV) business people in central Da Nang city on Sept. 21-22 agreed that the OV community's ability to serve as means of international integration should be further promoted to help Viet Nam following its accession to the World Trade Organisation.
Nguyen Ba Anh, the President of the Association of Vietnamese Businesses in Russia asserted that the OV community in Russia would continue to contribute to the expansion of Viet Nam's export to Russia and the development of bilateral relations.
He said that alongside the Government's efforts to assist businesses. The businesses themselves should develop their own initiatives and become more competitive in world trade, helping raise the country's status.
Nguyen Ngoc My, Chairman of the OV Club, urged the Government to develop investment funds to help manage investment coming from overseas Vietnamese.
In addition, the Government should facilitate cooperation between domestic and overseas businesses, and assist overseas Vietnamese wishing to become agents for businesses in Viet Nam as a means of distributing their products internationally.
At the conference, the first of its kind to promote the OV's potential to promote Viet Nam's development and international integration, the organisers announced the establishment of an association of OV businesses.
The association will be made up of overseas Vietnamese businesses and business societies abroad and will facilitate cooperation between domestic and overseas Vietnamese businesses and improve Viet Nam's relations with other countries.
