Foundation donates equipment for heart surgeries

Ha Noi (VNA) -- Ha Noi-based Viet Duc Hospital is to increase capacity for children's heart surgeries by three or four times thanks to new equipment donated by the East Meets West Foundation on Sept. 28. The donation, which is valued at around 150,000 USD, is part of EMW's Operation Health Heart programme aimed at providing life-saving financial assistance for heart surgeries to poor children. At any given time, there are as many as 20,000 children waiting to receive heart surgery while only about 3,000 paediatric heart surgeries can be conducted each year, reports the Health Ministry.-Enditem
