HCMC: Industrial value posts 240 trillion VND

HCM City (VNA) - Ho Chi Minh City has so far this year registered an industrial production value of nearly 240 trillion VND (15 billion USD), marking a year-on-year increase of 13.1 percent.

In October alone, the industrial production value reached nearly 4 trillion VND, only up 5.7 percent over the corresponding period of last year.

The foreign-invested sector contributed nearly 90 trillion VND to the 10-month figure, posting the highest growth rate of 20.2 percent.

Meanwhile, the centrally and locally State-owned sectors earned nearly 50,2 trillion VND and 14,7 trillion VND, respectively.

Food and beverage topped the list of reviewed sectors with a growth rate of 23.9 percent.

The city's industrial production value is estimated to surge between 13-13.5 percent in 2006, lower than the projected 14.6 percent.-Enditem
