Joining WTO helps develop agriculture for export

25/10/2006 -- 4:29 PM

Ha Noi (VNA) - The World Trade Organisation (WTO) membership will help expand markets for Viet Nam's agro-forestry which is commensurate with the country's strategy to develop agriculture for export by 2010, affirms an official of Viet Nam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
MARD Minister Cao Duc Phat made the affirmation at an annual conference of the International Supporting Group (ISG) donors titled "Vietnamese farm businesses and the WTO" that was held in Ha Noi on Oct. 25.
The conference, co-chaired by MARD Minister Phat and US Ambassador to Viet Nam Michael W. Marine, focused on dialogues on policies to create a legal corridor for agriculture businesses of all economic sectors to equally raise their competitiveness after Viet Nam becomes an official member of the world's biggest trade body.-Enditem
