Capital city to focus on medical system upgrade

02/01/2007 -- 10:32 PM

Ha Noi (VNA)- The Ha Noi Medical Service has announced its plan to invest 78.44 billion VND (almost 4.88 million USD) in upgrading a series of hopitals and medical centres in 2007.

These facilities include the Traditional Medicine Hospital, the Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases Hospital, the Preventive Medicine Centre and the Ambulance Centre.

Norway, the US, Japan and Holland have also been committed to over 7 million USD in aid to set up a modern laboratory centre in Saint Paul Hospital and upgrade an image diagnosis department at the Thanh Nhan Hospital.

The Capital is upgrading medical facilities in 20 villages and precincts to the national standards and expanding the municipal reproductive healthcare system with better quality.

HIV/AIDS and food hygiene programmes have also received more budgets.

Modernisation efforts have enabled several major hospitals to conduct complicated operations such as cardiac surgeries for disabled new-borns, neuro surgeries and artificial insemination.--Enditem
