Viettel Mobile sets record of 3,000 base transmission stations

Ha Noi (VNA) - Viettel Mobile, Viet Nam's fastest growing mobile phone service provider, has officially put into operation its 3,000th base transmission station (BTS) in Cong Vi ward, Ba Dinh district of Ha Noi.

As a result, the Defence Ministry-owned company, Viettel Mobile has affirmed its number one position as the most prolific mobile phone provider in Viet Nam with coverage extended to Bach Long Vi and Cat Ba islands in northern Hai Phong port city, Phu Quoc island of southern Kien Giang province, Huu Nghi (Friendship) bordergate in the northern mountainous Lang Son province and other remote areas.

In 2007, the company plans to install another 2,000 BTSs, extending its network coverage to islands and remote areas nationwide and to provide telecom services in Cambodia. It will test run the third generation wideband code division multiple access (3G - WCDMA) network.

The number of Viettel Mobile subscribers reached 7.4 million last year.-Enditem
