Indonesia studies Viet Nam’s bird flu prevention model

Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesian Minister of Health Siti Fadilah Supari said on Jan, 17 that the government will study Viet Nam’s model of containing bird flu in the context that the facilities from Avian Influenza in Indonesia have increased to 61. Supari said that no new cases of H5N1 infection in human occured in Viet Nam since 2005 as a result of strict mesures to stop disease’s such as banning poultry raising and the sale of live poultry in urban areas, stopping live poultry imports as well as closelymonitoring the disease. Indonesian government has recently issued a decree banning backyard poultry raising. The government will also pay 1,4 USD in compensation for each culled poultry.- Enditem
