Beijing (VNA) - The United States and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Jan. 31 ended two days of talks with no breakthrough in a dispute over financial sanctions imposed by the US on Pyongyang.
The two sides held two days of "very productive" discussions over US allegations concerning DPRK’s money laundering through the Macau-based Banco Delta Asia, US negotiator Daniel Glaser said.
Glaser, who is also US Treasury Department’s deputy assistant secretary for terrorist financing and financial crimes, said the DPRK took no position regarding the evidence presented by the US during the discussions and that further talks, yet to be scheduled, were needed.
The financial working group plans to meet again, but has not yet set a date, Glaser said.
Glaser and O Kwang-Chol, President of the DPRK's Foreign Trade Bank, first met for talks on the financial sanctions in Beijing in December, 2006.-Enditem
