IBM helps Viet Nam expand IT development

Ha Noi (VNA) - The US-based computer maker IBM has committed to join hands with Viet Nam to help promote the country's information technology development.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed in Ha Noi on Feb. 5 between Tran Quoc Thang, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology and Lee Puay Eng, Director General of IBM Viet Nam.

Under the MoU, the world leading IT company will coordinate with the Ministry of Science and Technology in IT innovation and research as well as in developing IT skills and monitoring IT services.

Addressing the signing ceremony, IBM's Vice President in charge of Renovation and Technology, Nick Donofrio, stressed that Viet Nam made a firm step forwards in 2006 in the field of science and technology thanks to the country's commitment to its renovation process.

Starting to operate in Viet Nam since 1938, IBM is currently offering a wide range of IT services and solutions to more than 2,000 customers in the country.-Enditem
