Ha Noi (VNA) - The Afghan government on Feb. 22 confirmed the reemergence of the deadly bird flu virus in the country.
So far two cases of bird flu have been found in the country’s eastern provinces of Nangar and Kunar, said Abdullah Fahim, spokesman of the Health Ministry.
Meanwhile, the deadly strain of bird flu has reportedly killed 24 birds at the Marghazar zoo in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad this month.
Tests by the National Reference Laboratory for Poultry Diseases (NARC) have showed the presence of the deadly H5N1 strain of avian flu.
Officials at the zoo have started screening, disinfection and isolation of birds for early detection of the disease.-Enditem
