Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – The Investigation Police of central Thua Thien-Hue province on Feb. 24 decided to take legal proceedings against Nguyen Van Ly who resides at No. 69 Phan Dinh Phung street, Vinh Ninh ward, Hue City, on charge of propagandising against the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam according to point C, item 1, article 88 of the Penal Code.
On the same day, the Chairman of the Thua Thien-Hue provincial People’s Committee issued a decision to change the administrative probation place for indicted Nguyen Van Ly.
Nguyen Van Ly was sentenced 10 years in jail in 1983 for sabotaging the all people’s unity. In 2001, he was sentenced 15 years in jail for failing to comply with administrative decision by authorised State agencies and for sabotaging the policy of uniting the whole people.
After being granted amnesty in February 2005, Nguyen Van Ly has moved out of his place of residence 14 times without permission by the local authorities while serving his administrative probation sentence.
Especially, Nguyen Van Ly kept establishing contacts and colluding with some political opportunists and reactionaries at home and abroad in order to oppose the State and deny the leading role of the Communist Party of Viet Nam. His acts ran counter to the interests of the nation and the people, seriously violating laws of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
Most recently, before the Lunar New Year festival (Tet), Nguyen Van Ly induced Nguyen Phong (resides at 86 Le Ngo Cat street, Hue city) and some other elements, such as Nguyen Binh Thanh and Hoang Thi Anh Dao, to hatch a plot to establish a party called “Thang Tien Viet Nam” (Viet Nam Advancement Party) and after that to merge the party with the “Dang Vi Dan” (For the People Party) of overseas reactionary organisations into a so-called “Lien Dang Lac Hong” (Lac Hong Inter-party).
They planned to make public the “Lien Dang Lac Hong” on the New Year Eve of the Year of Pig by dispersing documents, platform and regulations on the Internet and on reactionary radios abroad.
Their scheme, however, was discovered and prevented timely. When conducting an administrative check at Nguyen Van Ly’s residence, the police also seized six computer sets, six printers, dozens of telephones connecting with the Internet, 136 mobile phone SIM cards and more than 200kg of documents relating to the establishment of reactionary organisations opposing the Communist Party and the State of Viet Nam.-Enditem
