Japan helps Myanmar fight malaria

Ha Noi (VNA) - The Japanese government will grant 178,800 USD to help prevent and control malaria in Myanmar ’s Bago division.

Two programmes will be implemented in eastern and western parts of the Bago division, aiming at outlining comprehensive approaches to counter malaria, including medical care, prevention and education.

Malaria together with HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis are major national concerns in Myanmar . In its prevention efforts against the disease, the government has distributed 50,000 insecticidal nets annually since 2000 to more inaccessible areas.-Enditem
