PM asks medical sector to improve its service quality

Ha Noi (VNA) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has asked the health sector for greater efforts to improve its examination and treatment quality.

PM Dung made his statement at a meeting held in Ha Noi on Feb. 26 to mark the Vietnamese Physicians' Day (Feb. 27).

Despite several shortcomings, he said, professors, doctors and medical workers deserve to be extolled for their achievements in successfully containing the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome disease (SARS) and avian influenza type A (H5N1) virus as well as improving medical check-up and treatment quality in remote and mountainous areas.

The Vietnamese governmental leader touched upon issues that need to be reformed soon, including hospital fees and management in addition to intensive training.

The sector ameliorate its management of its pharmaceutical according to the market mechanism so as to prevent speculations and price hikes while boosting the production of this industry, PM Dung noted.

He urged the sector to mobilise capital for building hospitals, renovate management mechanisms for better service quality and more convenience for patients.

He also praised the sector for launching the campaigns "Studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's example of morality and virtue" and "Following the example of heroic woman doctor martyr Dang Thuy Tram".-Enditem
