Pilgrims flock to first bronze pagoda

26/02/2007 -- 8:27 PM

Quang Ninh (VNA)- The Yen Tu pagoda on a holy mountain, which is 1,068 m over the sea level, in northern Quang Ninh province was fully packed with over 12,000 pilgrims, including monks and nuns, on the opening of the Spring Festival on Feb. 26.

At the opening ceremony Buddhists and visitors were not only given chances to pray for the country’s peace and happy life, through a special worshipping ritual but also to enjoy the superb view of the first bronze pagoda in Viet Nam.

Yen Tu pagoda is the birth place of Truc Lam, a Buddhist sect founded by King Tran nhan Tong (1258-1308).--Enditem
