26/02/2007 -- 10:21 PM

Ha Noi (VNA) - No residue of Clenbuterol - a substance which is banned in production of animal and poultry food - was found in any of the 200 samples of animal and poultry meat and 100 sample of feed sent to the Nutrition Institute for tests, the Ha Noi Agriculture and Rural Development Department has announced.
The department said that this is the first time samples of meat and animal food were tested to find residue of Clenbuterol, and it is yet unable to affirm that there is no residue of the banned substance in animal and poultry meat on sales in the market.

The tested samples of meat were taken from animal and poultry meat in the Metro, Big C, Unimart, Ha Noi and Intimex supermarkets, 25 markets and two butcheries.

The examination team of the city also toured 17 livestock breeding farms and 11 shops of animal, poultry and fish food where the 100 samples of feed were sent to the lab for test.-Enditem
