Health Ministry to work on 37 projects

27/02/2007 -- 10:42 AM

Ha Noi (VNA)- The Prime Minister has approved a master-plan on healthcare development for 2010 and a vision for 2020, in which the Ministry of Health plans to submit 37 projects to the Government for consideration during this year.

The potential projects will focus on human resources development, lab tests, waste treatment and the expansion of medical check-up and treatment networks, in addition to restructuring State-owned enterprises under the ministry.

High on the ministry's agenda for the decade are policies to encourage medical personnel to work in economically disadvantaged communities and subsidies for those working for medical stations in rural villages or mountainous communes.

Epidemic control is also a major concern of the ministry in its immediate plan and long-term strategy.

Efforts are being made to finalise guidelines to enact relevant laws such as those on pharmaceuticals, HIV/AIDS and human organs donation.

Stronger investment will continue to upgrade medical stations at the district level and clinics at the provincial and regional levels, according to the ministry's master plan.--Enditem
