Malaysia, Syria sign cooperation agreements

Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia and Syria signed on Feb. 26 a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding on bilateral cooperation.

The agreements were reached at a session of Malaysian-Syrian discussions headed by Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Naji Ottri and his Malaysian counterpart Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who arrived in Syria on Feb. 25 for a three-day official visit.

Cooperation in the fields of sewage and industrial water disposal, expansion of Syria 's airports and avoidance of double taxation as well as a feasibility study of the Damascus ring road project was covered in the documents.

At the meeting, PM Ottri called on Malaysian businessmen and investors to establish projects in Syria , utilising the investment climate and facilities offered by the Syrian government.

The two countries were also expected to form a bilateral economic committee to enhance economic and trade ties.-Enditem
