Beijing (VNA) - China and Sri Lanka on Feb. 27 signed a series of deals during the current visit to Beijing by Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse to mark the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties.

The eight agreements on economy, investment, cinema, agriculture and eye cornea donation were signed after Chinese President Hu Jintao held one-hour talks with President Rajapakse.

In recent years, China and Sri Lanka have witnessed frequent high-level exchanges and increasing trade cooperation, President Hu said, suggesting that the two countries work closely to finalise the large cooperative projects and Chinese-funded projects, and deepen cooperation in such fields as infrastructure.

President Rajapakse reaffirmed Sri Lanka 's adherence to one-China policy, saying his country will learn from China 's experiences.

He vowed to enhance bilateral cooperation in trade, culture, infrastructure, energy development, tourism, anti-terrorism and international affairs.

President Rajapakse arrived in Beijing on Feb. 26 for a weeklong state
