20/03/2007 -- 4:19 PM

Dak Lak (VNA) - The Dak Lak Rubber Company has carried out many projects to grow perennial industrial crops in localities of Cambodia and Laos in implementation of the economic cooperation programmes between the governments of Viet Nam and those two neighbouring countries.

The company invested 6.25 million USD in greening over 4,000 ha, including 3,200 ha of rubber trees, in southern Champasak and Salavan provinces of Laos between 2005 and 2006.

It has launched a 32 million USD project to plant over 10,000 ha of rubber trees, together with thousands of hectares of cashews, coffee and cocoa in those provinces by 2009.

Apart from providing Lao farmers with techniques in planting industrial trees and helped them cultivate alternative crops to raise income, the company invested nearly 1 billion VND (62,500 USD) to build schools and clinics for the local people.

In Cambodia, the company projected 1,000 ha of rubber trees and 10,000 ha of cashews and cassavas in Mondulkiri province. Of which, 300 hectares of rubber trees will be grown in this year's rainy season.-Enditem
