VN-Index continues rising trend on week-beginning trading session

Ha Noi (VNA) - Viet Nam's stock market index, VN-Index, continued the increasing trend as it closed at 1,133.34 points on Mar. 19, up 23.58 points or 2.12 percent against last weekend.

As many as 80 shares listed at the Ho Chi Minh City Securities Trading Centre saw increases in their prices, while 16 others suffered declining prices. Only two shares showed no change in their prices from the previous trading session.

Blue-chip shares, including STB, PPC, HRC and REE, enjoyed the largest increases in their prices.

Nearly 11.4 million stocks and investment fund certificates worth more than 1.1 trillion VND (68.75 million USD) in total changed hands at the HoSTC.

At the Ha Noi Securities Trading Centre (HaSTC), prices of shares also continued to increase with SSI seeing a ceiling rise of 22,800 VND to 251,600 VND each after the company announced that its profits in the first quarter reached 50 percent of the annual target.

At the end of the Mar. 19 trading session, the HaSTC-Index rose 10.97 points from the last session to 459.36 points.

Experts said that the rises in prices of shares gave investors a renewed confidence in the stock market. Many local investors have been eager to explore business opportunities in this new field despite its unexpected developments.-Enditem
