Ha Noi (VNA) – Media organisations from China, the Republic of Korea (RoK), Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom (UK) and Australia have run articles on the Vietnamese President’s visit to the United States, saying that it would prove to be a historic visit and watershed moment in US-Viet Nam relations.
China’s Xinhua news agency on June 18 ran an editorial on the visit, stressing that the visit by President Nguyen Minh Triet from June 18 to June 23 aims at beefing up bilateral economic and trade cooperation, speeding up the process of resolving issues left by the war and continuing to call for the Vietnamese community in the US to make stronger contributions to Viet Nam’s development.
Meanwhile, RoK’s Yonhap news agency said that President Triet’s visit to the US marks the essence of full normalisation of US-Viet Nam relations.
A trade and investment framework agreement (TIFA) slated to be inked on the occasion will contribute to enhancing the relations, and tightening economic ties, the agency added.
The UK’s “Scotsman” also ran a story written by Ha Noi-based correspondent, Ben Stocking, about the Vietnamese state leader’s trip. It said the trip would be a catalyst for the enhancement of the two countries’ relationship. –Enditem
