Viet Nam, India discuss further ties

19/06/2007 -- 7:02 PM

Ha Noi (VNA) - A workshop on the prospect of Viet Nam-India relations was held in Ha Noi on June 19, attracting both Vietnamese and Indian scholars.

Participants at the workshop, co-organised by the Institute of Southeast Asia Studies and the Indian Embassy, exchanged views on the development of India in recent years, and the prospects of the Viet Nam-India cooperation in trade, industry, culture and education.

They said that Viet Nam's recent renovation achievements and India's progress to become one of the most powerful nations in East Asia are paving the way for them to develop bilateral cooperation, particularly economic and investment activities.

Participants agreed that the East-West economic corridor connecting Myanmar's Mawlamyine port and central Da Nang port will help further develop Viet Nam-India trade cooperation.-Enditem
