Traditional performances run in the US

Washington (VNA) - A music festival spotlighting the varying cultural identities of the people of the Mekong Delta region kicked off in Washington on July 5.

The programme was hosted by the Vietnamese Embassy in the US with the intention of exhibiting the diversified land and people of Viet Nam to the American public.

The Washington-based Ronald Reagan International Commercial Centre hosted the event that featured folk and traditional dances of the Khmer people and artists from the Mekong Delta region.

The performance of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) recognised gong art was particularly appreciated by those in attendance.

At the event, participants, including many overseas Vietnamese in the US , raised funds to support primary schools in the Mekong Delta region.-Enditem
