Viet Nam, Laos's cultural weeks to kick off

Ha Noi (VNA) - The Vietnamese and Lao Ministries of Culture and Information will run the Viet Nam Cultural Week in Laos and the Laos Cultural Week in Viet Nam from July 15-21.

The events are being held to mark the 45th anniversary of the two countries' diplomatic ties and 35th anniversary of the signing of the Viet Nam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Agreement.

Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Do Quy Doan said that the cultural weeks will be the largest cultural spectacle held at the same time in Viet Nam and Laos , with each country sending a 65-member strong delegation to the event.

The Viet Nam Cultural Week in Laos will showcase a fashion show, an art performance programme that details the Viet Nam-Laos partnership, a "Viet Nam Space" in Vientiane that imitates a Vietnamese traditional village, Khue Van Cac (Pavilion for the Constellation of Literature), Ha Noi ancient streets and a photo exhibition.

The Vietnamese Ministry of Culture and Information will also provide the Lao National Library with a Vietnamese language reading room.

During the Laos Cultural Week in Viet Nam, exhibitions will be held on Lao handicrafts and photos that reflect the land and the people of the country. The 40 member Lao national art troupe is also slated to give performances in Viet Nam .

On July 17 a special art performance will be broadcast live on television from both the Laos National Cultural Palace in Vientian and the Ha Noi Opera House.-Enditem
