Viet Nam, Kazakhstan build on ties

Ha Noi (VNA) – The Prime Minister has assigned ministries and government branches to carry out suggestions that were made as a result of an inter-ministerial working group visit to Kazakhstan that concluded recently.

The PM assigned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to establish a Vietnamese embassy in Kazakhstan and negotiate with the Central Asian country to reach an agreement on visa exemption status for diplomatic and official passport holders of the two countries.

The Finance Ministry has been asked to continue negotiating a double taxation avoidance agreement while the Ministry of Planning and Investment will soon negotiate an investment protection and encouragement pact with Kazakhstan.

The Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism is told to research the possibility of a bilateral tourism cooperation agreement to make reports to the Prime Minister while the Ministry of Transport and Communications will study the possibility of opening a direct air route between Ha Noi and Almata.

The PM asked the Trade Ministry to reactivate the Viet Nam- Kazakhstan Inter-Government Committee for trade, economic, scientific and technological cooperation and study the establishment of a Viet Nam Trade Centre in Kazakhstan.

The Ministry of Industry will instruct the Viet Nam Oil and Gas Corporation to investigate investment cooperation opportunities in the exploitation of a number of fields that were introduced by Kazakhstan partners.-Enditem
