Asian Cup: Japan hammers UAE to top Group B

Ha Noi (VNA) – Reigning Asian Cup champion Japan destroyed the United Arab Emirates (UAE) 3-1 to grab all three points of a qualifying match of the Group B at Ha Noi's My Dinh stadium, on July 13. The lopsided victory left Japan on top of the group on goal difference and ahead of co-host Viet Nam. Both Japan and Viet Nam had earlier drawn 1-1 with a plucky Qatar squad. Viet Nam beat UAE with two unanswered goals in the opening match on July 8. Qatar sits a third on the table with two points and the UAE dead last after not being able to secure a point after its two matches. In the final games of the Group on July 16, Japan will meet host Viet Nam at the Ha Noi-based My Dinh stadium and UAE take on Qatar in Ho Chi Minh City.-Enditem
