NA considers members for 12th NA Standing Committee

0719_QH01.jpgHa Noi (VNA) – The 11 th National Assembly Standing Committee has proposed the NA to consider the number of 18 members for the new 12 th NA Standing Committee. These members will fill the posts of NA Chairman, the four deputy NA Chairmen and the heads of NA Councils and Committees.

The first session of the July 19, 12 th assembly session also heard a report presented by Huynh Dam, Vice President and General Secretary of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front’s Central Committee, on voters’ concerns and opinions that were compiled during the run up to the lawmaking body's May 2007 elections.

Voters nationwide proposed that the NA continue organisational reforms and further enhance its effectiveness as the people’s highest representative body and the country's most powerful state agency, the report said.

Voters also criticised shortcomings in administrative and judicial reform, the settlement of petitions and complaints, land management, the fight against corruption and urged for the areas of concern to be rectified as quickly as possible.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung delivered a report on the country’s socio-economic development over the first half of the year that stated the government's desire to introduce measures to ensure continued rapid and sustainable economic development, increase exports and reign in the trade deficit, the deputy PM said.-Enditem
