Anniversary celebrations for Laos-VN ties continue

Ha Noi (VNA) - A series of celebrations continued being held in both Viet Nam and Laos to mark the 30th anniversary of signing the Friendship and Cooperation Treaty and the 45th anniversary of establishment of the diplomatic ties between the two countries. The Ha Noi chapter of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Associations (VUFO) on July 20 organised a performance of folk songs and traditional dances that were imbued with national identities of both Laos and Viet Nam. Dao Thanh Huong, Vice President of the VUFO Ha Noi chapter, said that the chapter regularly organised exchanges, meetings, art performances, sport activities and field trips for members, Lao embassy officials and Lao students in Viet Nam to introduce the Vietnamese land and people. Earlier, in Laos, the Lao National Assembly's Standing Committee on July 19 opened a talk as part of a series of celebrations for the two countries' major anniversaries. Addressing the meeting, Lao National Assembly Vice Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane underscored the traditional relationship between Laos and Viet Nam. He said the two countries have continuously supported each other in many areas and worked well together in regional and international arenas. A Laos-Viet Nam friendship festival was kicked off the same day in Bolikhamsay province's capital of Paksan. The Vietnamese delegation to the event was led by Vice President of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Le Truyen, who stressed that the festival and similar events will contribute to promoting mutual understandings between the two peoples.- Enditem
