Ho Chi Minh City sees slight climb in CPI

HCM City (VNA)- The General Statistics Office in Ho Chi Minh City reported a month-on-month increase of 0.19 percent in the consumer price index for the month of August.

The price index growth in the southern economic hub stood 7.55 percent in August against January, said the municipal statistics office.

Staples such as housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials” subsided by an average of 1.35 percent.

Transportation and post and telecommunication remained constant but food and restaurant services surged by 0.54 percent.

Gold jumped by over 6 percent while the greenback climbed by just 0.31 percent compared with earlier this year.--Enditem
