US heavy hitter keen on HCM City public works

HCM City (VNA) – The US Export-Import Bank (Eximbank) has announced that it too is eager to jump into Viet Nam's infrastructure development market by offering either financing or credit guarantees for Ho Chi Minh City public works. Eximbank Chairman and President James Lambright made the remark to Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan at their August 21 meeting. Lambright, who is on a three day tour of the country, said that an Eximbank’s corporate credit guarantee to national carrier Vietnam Airlines to purchase aircraft from Boeing was a roaring success and has paved the way for his bank to lend to other projects by the national carrier in the future. Quan laid out the city’s ambitious urban planning scheme through 2020 that requires close to 25 billion USD in investment capital for projects such as a metro system, monorail and belt roads.-Enditem
