Viet Nam to become motorbike production and design centre

Ha Noi (VNA) – The Ministry of Industry and Trade has adopted an ambitious plan to turn the country into a major motorbike production and design centre in the region by 2015. Under the scheme, by 2015, domestic motorbike production should meet 100 percent of rural and 90 percent of urban demand. The industry will strive to raise the local content of domestic-assembled scooters to more than 60 percent and that of motorbikes to over 90 percent. The export of motorbikes and motorbike spare parts is expected to generate around 400 million USD annually, according to the plan.-Enditem
