Vietnamese painter gets award for excellence in Japan

Tokyo (VNA) - Nguyen Dinh Dang, a Vietnamese painter cum physicist residing in Japan , was granted the "Award for Excellence" by the Sompo Japan Fine Art Foundation.

The award was presented annually to outstanding representatives from more than 30 leading fine arts associations in Japan .

Dang is the only foreign member of the Individual Artists' Association, which was set up in 1964 and now boasts a membership of more than 140.

Nguyen Dinh Dang is also a researcher at the KIREN physics and chemistry institute based in Saitama province.

The Individual Artists' Association had selected Nguyen Dinh Dang to be its representative for the award right before the openning of its 43rd painting exhibition at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum on September 1.

Dang brought to the exhibition his canvas, depicting the life of Japanese women before and after marriage.

The exhibited paintings at the event include one by Saito Nozomi, expressing his impression on Ha Noi after he joined Dang and 12 other Japanese painters in an exhibition in the capital city of Viet Nam last November.-Enditem
