05/09/2007 -- 10:34 PM

London (VNA) - First-half pre-tax profits of UK Soco International rose 15 per cent as it raced to increase offshore Viet Nam acreage, the Financial Times reported on September 5.

Soco’s CNV gas and condensate field, in which it has a 25 per cent stake, came on-stream in June with long-term output seen at 20,000 barrels of oil equivalent a day, the newspaper said.

Soco was awarded acreage offshore Viet Nam in 1997, the paper said, adding that the company has found Viet Nam as key to its expansion. –Enditem
