Viet Nam, India expect stronger tourism cooperation

08/09/2007 -- 10:30 PM

New Delhi (VNA) - Tourist companies from the central province of Binh Thuan signed many cooperation deals with partners in Calcutta, West Bengal State and New Delhi of India.

The agreements were inked during the week-long India-Viet Nam Friendship Festival 2007 that kicked off in West Bengal State on Sept. 3.

As scheduled, India will send a delegation of entrepreneurs, journalists and tourism executives to Viet Nam in October to study the country’s tourism market.

Nguyen Van Khoa, chairman of the Binh Thuan association of tourist businesses, said the province is targeting India in its overall plan to attract more foreign visitors.

India is considered a potential tourism market for Southeast Asian nations as up to 6 million Indian holidaymakers toured the region last summer.-Enditem
