Gov't confirms loans for large power projects

Ha Noi (VNA) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on September 11 approved letters of guaranty for foreign loans for the country's two new large power projects. The PM authorised the Finance Ministry to sign the letter of guaranty for a contract with the Societe Generale bank which will provide a loan for the Se San 4 hydro power project, and another with the China EximBank and Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) for a loan for the Hai Phong 2 thermal power project. The 300 MW Hai Phong power plant will be a modern coal-fueled plant built with a total investment of 623.6 million USD. The 360 MW Se San 4 hydro power project will be built with a total investment of over 5.500 billion VND (346 million USD) in Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces in the Central Highlands.-Enditem
