Quang Ngai (VNA) – The Dung Quat economic zone now has 119 tenants, with a total registered capital of 5.4 billion USD, according to the Dung Quat Economic Zone’s management board.

The board said 34 projects which have been operational in the zone have paid tax of 377 billion VND (23 million USD), accounting for 46 percent of the province’s tax payments in the first eight months of the year.

More than 1,000 new jobs have been created so far this year in the zone.

In addition to the Dung Quat Refinery, other major projects include the 260 million USD machinery plant invested by the Korean company Doosan, the 1.8 billion USD steel refinery invested by the Taiwanese Tycoons and E-United groups, the 1 billion USD Japanese-invested paper pulp mill, and the 700 million USD Dung Quat Shipyard.

Tran Le Trung, director of the zone’s management board, said these projects have made Dung Quat one of the most attractive investment destinations in central Viet Nam.-Enditem
