Piaggio Viet Nam builds scooter factory in Vinh Phuc

Vinh Phuc (VNA) – The Piaggio Viet Nam Co., Ltd on October 9 kicked off construction of a 45 million USD scooter factory in the northern mid-land province of Vinh Phuc. The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by visiting Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Massimo D’Alema and the Italian Ambassador to Viet Nam. Covering 80,000 sq.m in the Binh Xuyen Industrial Zone, the plant, which is the second of its kind in the province, after Honda Viet Nam’s 500,000- unit factory, is expected to be operational in June 2009. Piaggio Viet Nam, invested by Italy-based Piaggio SPA, specialises in producing scooters with world renowned brands such as Piaggio, Vespa, Cilera, Guzzi and Aprilia.-Enditem
