HCM City’s industrial zones attract 306 million USD

HCM City (VNA) - Industrial and export processing zones in Ho Chi Minh City drew over 306 million USD in investment in the first nine months this year, up 57 percent over the same period last year, according to the city’s Export Processing and Industrial Zones Authority (HEPZA).

In the period, the city’s IZs and EPZs welcomed 67 new projects, including 50 domestic ones capitalised at close to 200 million USD, up 564 percent over 2006.

However, foreign investment capital topped 21.62 million USD, or only half of the corresponding figure last year.

By September 30, HCM City’s IZs and EPZs had 1,167 valid projects valued at 3.78 billion USD. Of these, 484 foreign-invested projects were capitalised at 2.45 billion USD.-Enditem
