FPT inks two-year deal with NEC to assemble computers

HCM City (VNA) – Viet Nam’s FPT Distribution has become the first authorised partner for local assembly with Japanese based NEC Computers Asia Pacific. FPT Distribution and NEC signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Oct. 9 under which the former will perform final assembly of its commercial range of NEC POWERMATE desktop personal computers. FPT will configure and assembly NEC POWERMATE desktop PCs at its existing facility in Viet Nam according to NEC’s stringent quality control procedures and direction, according to the MoU, which lasts for two years. NEC POWERMATE desktop PCs assembled in Viet Nam will be made available throughout FPT’s network of commercial resellers as well as retail outlets before the end of the year. Leaders of the two companies expect that this collaboration will allow NEC and FPT to offer localised quality and reliable NEC products to its customers in the government and education sectors. “By assembling NEC computers in Viet Nam, we hope customers will continue to support local products with the best quality and innovative products that are rigorously tested by the NEC quality and reliability system,” said Hoang Nam Tien, managing director of FPT Distribution. Wu Tengguo, managing director of NEC’s South and East Asia sales, said: “NEC sees significant growth opportunities in the Vietnamese personal computer market. With the support of FPT’s excellent facilities and infrastructure, NEC will strive to be the preferred brand in the Vietnamese PC market for both commercial and consumer customers.”-Enditem
