Ministry lowers tax on imported milk

24/10/2007 -- 11:27 AM

Ha Noi (VNA) – The Finance Ministry has temporarily lowered the import tax for imported dairy produce from between 10-15 percent to 3-5 percent.

Its Decision 86/2007/QD-BTC reduces the import tax for unsweetened, uncondensed milk and cream to 5 percent.

The tax for sweetened condensed or powdered milk and cream is now 3 percent.

For buttermilk and yoghurt, the tax has been lowered from 10-15 percent to 7 percent.

The ministry says the lower tax is intended to mitigate the negative effect of rising international prices on domestic consumption, production and investment.

Last week, it reduced tariffs for fully-assembled cars from 70 to 60 percent and halved the import duty livestock fodder, steel and gas.-Enditem
