Work starts on 3.3 billion USD steel plant

Quang Ngai (VNA) – The Tycoons Worldwide Steel Viet Nam Co., Ltd and the People’s Committee of central Quang Ngai province broke ground on a steel rolling mill in the Dung Quat Economic Zone on October 24. The 450ha plant is expected to be the largest of its kind in Viet Nam and one of the three biggest projects in Quang Ngai province with a total investment of over 3.3 billion USD. The factory is designed to have an annual capacity of 5 million tonnes of steel ingots and will be equipped with energy-saving and environmentally-friendly facilities. The first phase is estimated to cost 1.8 billion USD and will be capable of turning out 3 million tonnes of products. Once operational in mid-2010, the plant will employ 25,000 workers.-Enditem
