Viet Nam – promising destination for RoK investors

26/10/2007 -- 6:19 PM

Ha Noi (VNA) – Viet Nam ’s economy will continue to grow and create good favourable opportunities for investors from the Republic of Korea (RoK) said Kim Won Ho, Director of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA).

Addressing the “Promoting investment in northern region” seminar in Ha Noi on October 26, the KOTRA Director added that Viet Nam ’s accession to the World Trade Oranisation early this year and the fact that the RoK-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement took effects in July have made Viet Nam attractive.

”More and more Korean investors think of Viet Nam as one of promising destinations for their capital,” he said.

To promote trade and investment between the two countries, agency director Kim Won Ho said, KOTRA will hold meetings between RoK investors and Vietnamese counterparts, including governmental agencies, and representatives of industrial parks.

So far, the RoK has foreign direct investment among 81 countries and territories in Viet Nam with 1,655 projects valued at over 11.5 billion USD in registered capital.

In 2007, RoK invested 2.1 billion USD in Viet Nam , tripling its 2005 figure.-Enditem
