4.5 billion USD for gas sector

Ha Noi (VNA) – The Viet Nam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) plans to bring ashore between 6.1-9.1 billion cubic metres of gas every year until 2010.

To this end it will invest 4.5 billion USD in gas exploration, exploitation and production facilities.

Experts forecast that the country’s supply will be short of 0.4 billion cu.m. of dry gas this year and about 1.8 billion cu. m in 2010.

To address the shortage, PetroVietnam says it intends to bring ashore 100 percent of the gas it tapped and put CO2 containing gas into use as soon as possible.

To ensure the supply for the domestic market, the corporation has imported dry gas from Malaysia and Indonesia .

PetroVietnam also speeding up the construction of the Phu My-HCM City pipeline and working to complete the pipeline linking lot B and O Mon in Can Tho city.-Enditem
